Sonic Philippines is a local community in the Philippines dedicated to all things Sonic the Hedgehog.

Community-first.

We want to connect and foster a local Filipino community of Sonic fans, sharing our love for the blue blur all across the country. Our community spans across places like Facebook and Discord, while our social media brings in discussion for Sonic the Hedgehog. We are also looking into community meetups and events to bring together Pinoy Sonic fans!

We bring the latest local Sonic news that comes from the Philippines alongside Southeast Asia to keep Filipino Sonic fans informed and connected, and to provide fresh and new perspectives for Sonic fans across the world!

While Sonic has been having a resurgence lately, we have always been here and we are ready to bring our best as Pinoy fans for Sonic! It is our mission to bring Sonic closer to Filipinos, and bring Filipino fans closer to Sonic.

History of Sonic Philippines

SEGA has been selling its products in the Philippines for decades; back when it was mainly a coin-op arcade manufacturer, when it was in the console business starting with the Mega Drive (Genesis), and when it eventually moved to third-party game publishing.

The Sonic community in the Philippines—before the debut of SEGA Singapore/Asia, SEGA ATLUS Festival, the Sonic Movies, Sonic Frontiers—could be described as fragmented. Pinoy Sonic fans have been spread out across different mediums, fandoms, and communities. Some local fans resided in gaming spaces, art circles, retro hangouts, or Sonic communities abroad. Local fans have been split across the three island groups as well, with Pinoy Sonic fans not only residing in Manila but across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

We have been greatly inspired by many things; by the Sonic resources that we look up to such as Tails Channel and The Sonic Stadium; big Sonic events abroad like Summer of Sonic and Sonic Expo, as well as local fandom community initiatives such as Pokémon Philippines and HoloPro Fans PH.

"Sonic Philippines" in its current setup as a resource for local Sonic news for local Sonic fans including its Facebook group for local Sonic fans was first set up by longtime Sonic fan Madekuji-san on October 12, 2024. Longtime Sonic fan and artist JERNiX later joins the Sonic Philippines team. The Jeff would also later set up the SONIC PH community Discord server. Karla would also become a contributor to both Sonic Philippines coverage and the SONIC PH Discord server.

We have committed to coverage of local Sonic happenings, such as the first SEGA ATLUS Festival, the Philippine release of Sonic Movie 3, and Sonic's first mall show in Manila. We're also keeping local Sonic fans updated on other local news such as Sonic game sales and toy availability.
